Our Heritage
With over 135 years of continuous service, ScottHulse PC is one of the most distinguished professional institutions in the region. Established in 1889, we’ve developed and sustained a reputation as an efficient and effective provider of commercial business and litigation legal advice.
Our story starts with William Henry Burges, Jr. (1867-1946). Following his graduation from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Mr. Burges opened a law office in El Paso in 1889. At that time, the frontier city of El Paso had a population of about 10,000 and was considered the epitome of the “Wild West.” With open gambling and plenty of saloons, the city attracted its share of gunslingers, prospectors, range riders, and similar characters.
Over the last century, El Paso has grown exponentially to become the 24th largest city in the nation. In that time, ScottHulse PC has grown from one attorney to one of the largest, continuous legal practices in the region. The stability of our firm and longevity of our attorneys’ practices with the firm translate into long-term relationships with clients, a deep understanding of their needs, and an unmatched knowledge of the intricacies of U.S.-Mexico business transactions.
