Tomas E. Porras-Acosta

Tomas Porras-Acosta’s practice in trademark law covers brand selection, clearance searches, trademark prosecution, and both domestic and international strategies. He represents clients before the USPTO and in state and federal courts, handling disputes and litigation involving trademark and trade dress infringement, as well as false advertising. In commercial litigation, Mr. Porras-Acosta addresses breach of contract, fraud, trade secrets, and shareholder disputes. As part of ScottHulse’s Construction Law group, he advises on mechanic’s liens and bond claims. In labor and employment, Mr. Porras-Acosta counsels employers on policies, non-compete agreements, and compliance, and has litigated wage and discrimination cases in state and federal courts. Born and raised in El Paso, Mr. Porras-Acosta grew up in El Segundo Barrio before moving to the west side where he attended Coronado High School. He is the director of the El Paso Bar Association, a committee member of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee for the 17th District, and many other professional and volunteer associations.
