ScottHulse Law Firm’s Labor & Employment Law Seminar Sets New Attendance Record

EL PASO, TX – More than 200 businesses and organizations participated in the March 4th ScottHulse Labor & Employment Law Seminar, setting an all-time attendance record for the annual event which the law firm, headquartered in El Paso, Texas, has hosted for seven consecutive years. The seminar, which is designed for business owners, executives, human resource professionals, managers, supervisors, and in-house legal counsel, was presented at El Paso Community College in partnership with the South-West Texas Small Business Development Center Network.
“Our firm recognizes employers are faced with an increased need for training related to complex and rapidly changing labor and employment laws and regulations,” said attorney Rosemary Marin, who heads the ScottHulse Labor & Employment practice group.”The record attendance at this year’s seminar confirms that area businesses want and need help to better understand and manage these critical issues.”
Seminar topics included the Affordable Care Act; audits and compliance with the rules and regulations of various government agencies, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA),Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Labor (DOL); and recent employment case law updates that affect every workplace. Recent legal requirements for employee handbooks, as well as the proper handling of layoffs and terminations, were also discussed.
“We presented this affordable annual seminar in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center as a service to our clients and members of the business community, including people interested in starting businesses.” said Marin. “The seminar provided local businesses and organizations with a firm understanding of the current employment laws, and offered a pro-active management game plan that helps to prevent employment-related legal problems, which could result in costly litigation, settlements, fines or other penalties.”
Seminar attendees earned certification credits for the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), continuing legal education (CLE), and continuing professional education (CPE).
