ScottHulse Attorney Glenn Davis Presents at State Bar Estate Planning and Probate Course

EL PASO, TX – Attorney Glenn Davis, a shareholder of the ScottHulse law firm, presented at the State Bar of Texas Estate Planning and Probate Drafting Course October 8-9 in Houston. The course, which hosted over 150 lawyer attendees, will be re-broadcast in Dallas via video in November.
Mr. Davis, who is licensed in both Texas and New Mexico and is certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, presented on “Drafting and Exercising Powers of Appointment.” Powers of appointment are complex but, when drafted and executed correctly, can increase flexibility and control over property held in trust.
“Powers of Appointment are one of the most powerful tools we have as estate planning and probate attorneys,” said Mr. Davis. “However, the universe of what is considered a ‘power of appointment’ is so broad that attorneys sometimes inadvertently create them. Unintended consequences can result in a number of estate planning and probate areas including creditor claims and taxes.”
